The Fourth of July isn’t part of Mexico’s holiday calendar, but in Los Cabos it’s become an annual fixture. Thousands of American visitors are in town through the summer, and hotels, restaurants, and bars across the Corridor and Cabo San Lucas plan around it, some with beachfront barbecues, others with chef-driven dinners or late nights that run well past midnight.

This year brings fireworks over the Sea of Cortez, a guest chef takeover on Hilton’s beach, and a rooftop with one of the best views of Medano Beach in town.

Hilton Los Cabos Resort

Hilton Los Cabos turns its swimmable beach into the site of a proper summer barbecue. Live music and family games run through the evening; fireworks close it out after sunset. Guest chef Tiffany Derry runs the kitchen this year; it’s one more edition of what’s become one of the destination’s longest-running Fourth of July parties.

Nobu Hotel Los Cabos

Nobu brings a structured approach to the holiday at Ardea Steakhouse. The evening centers on a family style set menu designed to highlight American classics with a Japanese influence. Live DJ entertainment runs throughout the night, providing a high energy backdrop that complements the ocean views. It offers a refined alternative to the casual beach gatherings found elsewhere in the destination.

Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos

Hard Rock does the holiday the way it does most nights: loud and full of music. Terraza Muse hosts a themed dinner of American classics starting in the early evening, with live performances running alongside it. The oceanfront setting stays part of the draw even as the party ramps up.

Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Zadún maintains a sophisticated atmosphere for its Celebrate the 4th of July by the Sea event. The focus remains on the dramatic coastline, utilizing the outdoor spaces to provide an elevated experience. Service emphasizes a premium culinary program tailored specifically for the holiday, catering to guests who prefer a secluded setting away from the crowded beach clubs found closer to downtown.

Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa

Rooftop 360 at Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa has maybe the clearest view of Medano Beach in town. Barbecue and cocktails up top, the shoreline lighting up below as the sun goes down. Guests who’d rather stay at sea level can head to the beach club instead, where live music spills into the night.

El Squid Roe

For anyone ending the night downtown, El Squid Roe is still one of Cabo San Lucas’ most recognizable addresses. Independence Day is one of its busiest nights of the year, with DJs and themed entertainment throughout the multi-level space, and a crowd that’s equal parts visitors and locals. It’s a different experience from the resort parties, but one that’s become just as much a part of the weekend.

Fireworks and a Busy Holiday Weekend

One of the advantages of celebrating the Fourth of July in Los Cabos is that you don’t have to be attending a specific event to enjoy the evening. Several beachfront resorts traditionally end their celebrations with private fireworks displays, many of them visible from neighboring beaches, restaurants, and even boats anchored off Cabo San Lucas Bay. While each show is intended for resort guests, the combined effect often lights up much of the coastline after dark.

This year’s holiday weekend also coincides with the FIFA World Cup entering the Round of 16, with matches scheduled throughout the Fourth of July weekend. Sports bars and restaurants showing the tournament are expected to draw larger crowds than a typical July weekend, particularly before evening celebrations begin. If you’re planning dinner, drinks, or a place to watch the fireworks, reserving ahead is a good idea.
