19-29 – San Jose del Cabo Festival Tradicional

The 8 day long San Jose del Cabo Festival, celebrated in honor of the city’s patron saint San José (St. Joseph), begins on Sunday March 19 at 6:00 p.m. and will continue every evening until Wednesday, March 29. The free admission gala event kicks off with live music, held at the plaza in the heart of downtown. Carnivals and parades will be held during the two weekends of the event, which year after year, has been a tremendously huge and popular success; always drawing a good, boisterous crowd. The various food booths situated throughout the central downtown area, will be serving up everything from fresh, warm tamales, to corn on the cob (with or without buttered, powdered chili), tacos, enchiladas, an assortment of sweets, and sugared pumpkin candies. The Festival is an annual family-oriented affair, which is one of the biggest street parties the city puts on every mid-March. The popular local event will also feature its annual rodeo that is part of the eight day celebration, which takes place at the corral, across the street from the city’s fire department on the main street from the hotel zone into town. San Jose del Cabo’s historic charm lies in the quaint, narrow streets, and colonial buildings that comprise the city’s intriguing art district; featuring exquisite ancient houses turned into pleasantly colored galleries, studios, tiny shops and really cool and scrumptious restaurants; some of them with courtyards converted to pleasant seating areas. The »Festival Tradicional» de SJDC is an event both locals and visitors look forward to attending every year.
