How to Have a Great Summer in Los Cabos

Share

As the temperature rises and the sun shines brighter, summer in Los Cabos is calling your name with its pristine beaches, sky-blue waters, and vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler returning for more, proper preparation is the key to unlocking an unforgettable summer experience in Los Cabos.  In this article, we will provide you with a guide to help you make the most of your summer getaway. So, grab your sun hat, pack your swimsuit, and get ready to discover everything you need to know to prepare for an incredible summer in Los Cabos.

Stay Hydrated

The most obvious but often neglected tip is to drink an adequate amount of water throughout the day. Carry a reusable water bottle and make a conscious effort to sip water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Tap water isn’t safe to drink in Los Cabos and water fountains aren’t as common. Be prepared to either ask waiters to refill your bottle at restaurants or buy bottled water. Pay attention to signs of dehydration such as dry mouth, thirst, fatigue, dizziness! A trip to the ER for dehydration could put a damper on your vacation!

Protect your skin

Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30 or higher. Apply it generously to all exposed areas of your skin at least 15 minutes before sun exposure, and reapply every two hours or more frequently if sweating or swimming. Additionally, cover your skin with lightweight, tightly woven clothing that covers your arms, legs, and torso. Opt for wide-brimmed hats that shade your face, neck, and ears, and don’t forget to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV radiation. Sunburn is no joke!

Stay active

Take advantage of the coastal setting by engaging in beach activities like swimming, beach volleyball, or beachside yoga. Walking or jogging along the shore is also a great way to stay active while enjoying the beautiful scenery. You could also try water sports, such as snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, or even surfing

Stay flexible

Summer travel often involves increased traffic, flight delays, and other unexpected challenges. Stay flexible and patient, allowing extra time for potential delays or changes to your itinerary. This is also important when planning activities. Things happen and plans change! Staying flexible is a great way to try to make the most of your time in Cabo. You’re already in paradise!

Embrace the culture

Interact with locals and learn about their way of life. Strike up conversations, ask for recommendations, and show genuine interest in their culture and traditions. Another great way to embrace the culture is by indulging in the local flavors by trying traditional Mexican dishes and regional specialties. You could also purchase locally-made handicrafts, artwork, or souvenirs from artisans. This not only allows you to take home unique mementos but also supports the local economy and helps preserve traditional craftsmanship.
