Starting today, November 3, Los Cabos welcomes the world’s top golfers for the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship at El Cardonal Golf Course at Diamante, the Tiger Woods and TGR Design creation that has become the event’s home since 2023.

Over the next seven days, the region will host a remarkable lineup of tournament action, community events, culinary experiences, and family-friendly activities, reaffirming its position as a premier destination for world-class golf.

As the first practice rounds and Pro-Ams unfold, anticipation builds for the official competition beginning Thursday, November 6, when 120 PGA TOUR players will tee off for 500 FedExCup points and a chance to join the growing legacy of champions in Baja California Sur.

A Tournament of Global Prestige

This year’s field is one of the strongest to date, comprising 120 PGA TOUR players from over 20 countries and territories for a 72-hole, stroke-play tournament that awards 500 FedExCup points. Among them are three Major champions — J.J. Spaun (2025 U.S. Open), Wyndham Clark (2023 U.S. Open), and Francesco Molinari (2018 Open Championship) — and Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, who returns to compete after leading Europe to victory in 2023 and 2025.

The list of contenders includes household names such as Tony Finau, Ben Griffin, Brandt Snedeker, Patton Kizzire, and Matt Kuchar, along with recent winners Nick Taylor, Joe Highsmith, Garrick Higgo, and Steven Fisk. Defending champion Austin Eckroat will attempt to replicate his 2024 triumph, while past winners Erik van Rooyen (2023), Kuchar (2018), and Kizzire (2017) return to the Baja coastline, where their names have become part of the tournament’s history.

Adding a new dimension to this year’s competition is a promising generation of rising stars. Former world No.1 amateurs Luke Clanton, Gordon Sargent, and David Ford represent the next wave of PGA TOUR talent, each earning exemptions through the PGA TOUR University program.

Latin American and International Presence

Reflecting the sport’s growing reach across the Americas, the field features a notable contingent of Latin American players: Mexico’s Emilio Gil Leyva, Emilio Gonzalez, Alejandro Madariaga, and Omar Morales, joined by Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo, Colombia’s Nico Echavarria and Camilo Villegas, Chile’s Cristobal Del Solar, and Puerto Rico’s Rafa Campos.

Each brings a unique story to Los Cabos. Echavarria, who tied for sixth last year, continues to rise as one of Colombia’s top players. Villegas, a nine-time WWT participant, came close to victory in 2023 and remains a crowd favorite. Meanwhile, Grillo’s consistent performances and Campos’s breakthrough win in Bermuda last season underscore the region’s increasing influence on the PGA TOUR.

Their participation reinforces the event’s role as a gateway for Latin American golfers to compete on one of the sport’s most visible global stages.

A Celebration Beyond the Fairways

While the focus remains on the tournament itself, the World Wide Technology Championship has evolved into far more than just a golf competition. Throughout its history, it has donated US$3.8 million to charitable causes, with 14 Los Cabos civil associations among its recent beneficiaries. The event mobilizes 600 volunteers and over 700 staff and suppliers, generating an estimated US$25 million in annual economic impact across the region.

Tournament Director Joe Mazzeo describes it as “a week of celebrations and impact,” emphasizing how sport and social responsibility can coexist to create lasting benefits. Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, adds that the event “not only consolidates Los Cabos as a global golf reference but reaffirms its commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible economic development.”

For local businesses, the championship represents both international visibility and tangible growth, further establishing Los Cabos as Latin America’s premier golf destination.
