The Los Cabos International Film Festival (FICLosCabos) will celebrate its 13th edition from December 10 to 14, 2025, continuing its role as one of Mexico’s most relevant cultural events. With a constant focus on supporting the local film industry, FICLosCabos has positioned itself as a space where cinema meets authenticity, creativity, and regional identity.
Thirteen Years of Building Bridges
Launched in 2012, the festival was designed to connect Mexican filmmakers with international audiences. Its location in Baja California Sur serves as a point of connection between regional filmmaking and the wider American continent.
Over the years, the event has grown in visibility and influence. It has hosted acclaimed directors such as Terry Gilliam, Spike Lee, and Oliver Stone, alongside rising talent from Mexico and beyond.
Major films like Room (2015), The Favourite (2018), and The Whale (2022) have been part of its lineup, often screening in Los Cabos shortly before entering the global awards circuit. At the same time, collaborations with filmmakers from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia have expanded its reach and strengthened Latin American creative exchanges.
Beyond the Screen in 2025
For its 13th edition, the festival introduces #BeyondTheScreen, an expanded format that moves programming outside traditional venues.
Screenings in open-air locations, concerts, and installations will complement the film lineup, integrating cinema with the landscapes and communities of Baja California Sur.
While these elements aim to create unique experiences, the festival remains centered on its primary role: a bridge between creators and the industry.

Expanding the Scope: Animation and Funding Initiatives
This year marks the official inclusion of animation, with curated works from international schools, professional workshops, and the announcement of a dedicated 2026 animation call. This reflects the sector’s growing importance within the global cinema industry.
A defining initiative of FICLosCabos has been the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund (GFFF), created in 2012 to support the development and post-production of Mexican films.
The fund honors Gabriel Figueroa (1907–1997), widely regarded as one of Mexico’s most extraordinary cinematographers. Known for his work on classics such as María Candelaria and Los Olvidados, Figueroa helped establish the visual identity of Mexican cinema in the 20th century.
Naming the fund after him situates contemporary filmmakers within a lineage of visual storytelling that remains internationally influential.
For 2025, the Film Fund has released the following deadlines:
National Call for Entries (Convocatoria Nacional): Open from October 13 to October 31, 2025.
Selection and Results: Up to five feature-length projects (fiction or documentary, first or second films) will be chosen. Results announced November 15, 2025.
Meetings and Awards: One-on-one industry sessions and the official awards presentation will take place during the festival, from December 10 to 14, 2025.
This year, in collaboration with the Escuela Superior de Cine (ESCINE), the fund will reinvent itself as part of the Beyond The Screen initiative.

Regional Focus: La Baja Inspira
FICLosCabos also maintains a clear commitment to its local context. La Baja Inspira is a competitive section dedicated to stories from the Baja California peninsula. By showcasing films tied to the peninsula’s people and landscapes, the program strengthens local representation while positioning the region as a hub of creative output, not just a tourist destination.
The festival’s reach would not be possible without the support of its current collaborators and sponsors. For 2025, confirmed partners include ESCINE, Hotel El Ganzo, Kundavi, Questro, Puerto Los Cabos, Crania, Veleros Beach Club, San José del Este, Casa Ballena, Secrets Hotel, and Suelo Sur.
Their involvement highlights how the festival has evolved into an integrated cultural event for Los Cabos, blending cinema with hospitality, business, and regional development.
Ticket sales will open soon, and pre-registration is already available. For filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts, FICLosCabos 2025 represents a practical and strategic event within the Mexican and North American cultural calendar.
