For years, hotel restaurants were seen as practical but unremarkable: convenient options that rarely made anyone’s must-visit list. Today, that perception is shifting.
Travelers are increasingly seeking out hotel dining experiences that go beyond convenience, offering memorable food and a sense of place. In Los Cabos, that shift is evident.
The destination stands out in the first-ever Top 50 Hotel Restaurants in Mexico, a new list compiled by OpenTable and KAYAK. With 22 local establishments included, Los Cabos claims nearly half the list, outpacing even Mexico City and the Riviera Maya.
From beachfront grills in Cabo San Lucas to modern rooftop kitchens in San Jose del Cabo, the region has redefined hotel dining in Mexico.
Behind this rise is a growing demand among travelers for meaningful meals. Not just a place to eat, but an experience that reflects the destination.
“The hospitality industry in Mexico has found a strong alignment between tourism and cuisine,” says Juan Luis Reed, Senior Director for LATAM at OpenTable. “This year, OpenTable data showed continued growth in hotel dining across the country, suggesting that global travel and local food culture are becoming more connected.”
“The dining experience is now part of the travel itinerary,” says Kate Williams, Director of Communications at KAYAK. “People no longer just ask, ‘Where am I going?’ They also want to know, ‘What’s on the menu when I get there?'”
The Top 50 Hotel Restaurants in Mexico list is based on verified OpenTable diner reviews collected between June 2024 and May 2025, paired with booking trends from KAYAK.
While each restaurant earned its spot through consistently high ratings and distinctive cuisine, Baja California Sur’s strong presence points to a larger trend: this is no longer just a beach destination — it’s a serious culinary hub.
