This fall, Baja California Sur will host two festivals dedicated to well-being: the return of the Todos Santos Wellness Fest from October 31 to November 2, and the first edition of the Loreto Live Well Experience from November 7 to 9. Together, they show how the region is positioning itself not only as a place to visit but as a place to recalibrate.

The Rise of Mindful Travel in Baja California Sur

While visitors long associated the peninsula with beaches and outdoor activities, a different kind of tourism has gained momentum, one centered on restoration. Demand for yoga, meditation, and holistic health has opened the way for events that tie practice to place, drawing from local landscapes and traditions.

Todos Santos: A Festival of Practice and Reflection

Todos Santos, known for its arts community, has become a hub for wellness gatherings. The Todos Santos Wellness Fest will be spread across gardens and cultural venues, with sessions ranging from Kundalini to Vinyasa Flow, accompanied by live music and guided meditation. This year’s timing with Día de los Muertos invites participants to reflect on renewal in both physical and spiritual terms.

Instructors include Ana Paula Domínguez, founder of the Mexican Institute of Yoga, along with Annie Parr, Beni Falcon, and photographer Robert Sturman. Public activities at the Casa de la Cultura extend the event beyond ticketed workshops, creating opportunities for locals and visitors to join together.

Loreto: A First Step for Wellness Tourism

A week later, attention shifts north to Loreto, one of Baja California Sur’s towns with the deepest history. Founded in the 17th century by Spanish missionaries, it now prepares to host its first wellness festival, the Loreto Live Well Experience, with a three-day program of yoga, Qigong, breathwork, music, and family-friendly sessions.

Guides include Luis de la Rosa, known for his dual work in film and wellness, musician Lady Gang, senior yoga trainer Jimena Patiño, and healing artist Matt Pesendian. Most sessions will be hosted at Hotel Oasis, with public events in Loreto’s historic plaza to involve the broader community.

A Region Redefining Wellness

These festivals reflect a broader shift in how travelers engage with Baja California Sur. Not simply as a getaway but as a setting for deliberate practice. Whether through yoga at sunrise or a moment of stillness by the water, the emphasis is less on escape than on cultivating presence.
