There is a particular kind of cultural momentum that builds in Baja California Sur when a project begins to connect places that rarely operate in sync. ABC Art Baja 2026 arrives within that context, structured as a sequence unfolding across San Jose del Cabo, Todos Santos, and La Paz between March 18 and April 5.

Rather than concentrating activity in a single venue, the festival extends across galleries, hotels, studios, restaurants, and public spaces, forming a temporary network that links the region through contemporary art, design, and music. Over its first editions, this approach has evolved into a more defined platform, one that treats geography as part of its framework and brings together artists, galleries, and creative spaces in a shared program.

The structure is articulated through recurring sections that appear in each city. A hotel-based fair format, a gallery exhibition program, outdoor installations, music, and a network of local venues and studios operate simultaneously, allowing the experience to unfold across different scales and contexts without relying on a single center.

The 2026 Edition

Across all three cities, the exhibition program reflects a wide range of contemporary practices, from painting and photography to installation, video, and performance. Emerging and established artists share the same framework, resulting in a program that remains open rather than tightly defined by a single curatorial line.

The opening chapter takes place in San Jose del Cabo from March 18 to 22, where the festival establishes its most concentrated program. One of the defining elements this year is Plataforma ABC, presented as a hotel art fair within Hotel Drift. Rooms are converted into exhibition spaces, allowing galleries, collectives, and independent artists to present work in a format that encourages direct interaction between creators and visitors.

This setting shifts the dynamics of presentation. Instead of standardized booths, each space carries its own character, shaping how the work is experienced and discussed. The result is a more immediate encounter, where proximity becomes part of the exchange.

Alongside this, the exhibition program unfolds across cultural venues including Teatro Manuel Márquez de León and Centro Cultural Nestor Agundez, where painting, photography, video, and design are presented within a more traditional gallery context. Outdoor installations and performances extend the program beyond interior spaces, while a network of studios, galleries, and businesses across the city host openings, talks, and independent activations that continue throughout the week.

Todos Santos

From March 26 to 29, the program moves to Todos Santos, where the scale becomes more dispersed and the emphasis shifts toward artist-led spaces and independent venues. Exhibitions and interventions appear throughout the town, integrating into galleries, cultural centers, and open-air locations.

Jazamango serves as a central point for outdoor programming, where installations and performances unfold alongside the exhibition circuit. Studio visits and smaller-scale presentations play a more prominent role here, creating a setting that encourages direct engagement with artists and their processes. The experience feels less concentrated and more exploratory, shaped by the town’s existing creative community.

La Paz

The final chapter unfolds in La Paz from April 2 to 5, where the program expands once again in scale and visibility. The exhibition program centers on Teatro Juarez, presenting a curated selection of works across disciplines, while outdoor installations and music programming activate the spaces of Baja Club.

As in the previous cities, the festival extends into galleries, studios, and cultural venues across the city, reinforcing its distributed structure. The closing segment carries a broader civic presence, integrating historical spaces and public-facing programming while maintaining the same fluid movement between formal exhibitions and informal encounters.
